It is important to supply us with the correct material as unnecessary conversions or reformatting will lead to unnecessary cost.
Below are some guidelines for preparing your audio for submission.
Things to bare in mind:
-
- Avoid limiting your mix
Limiting is an important tool for the mastering engineer however it is imperative that it is applied with care. Over zealous application can create unwanted distortion or pumping effects. This equally relates to mix-buss compression and unless it is used well it is often best not used at all and left to the mastering engineer.
-
- Leave some headroom
Please leave 3-6dB headroom (the additional signal level available before clipping or distortion) by turning down your master fader. Make sure you go by the actual waveform/peak meter reading as fader moves are relative not absolute.
File Formats
-
We can take submissions in WAV, AIFF or SDII format up to a sample-rate of 192kHz and 24-bit resolution.
24bit / 96kHz WAV files are recommended.
Compressed file formats such as MP3 or AAC should be avoided.
-
Submit your material via:
Data CD-Rom, DVD-Rom, Hard Drive, YouSendIt.com, USB key, DDP image
Audio CDRs should be avoided as they have high error-counts which degrades audio quality.
