Seminars
- Educational Establishments, Schools and Colleges
The Chapel Studios now offers an in school
seminar service to introduce young people to the world of sound recording.
We appreciate that because of the expensive nature of sound recording equipment,
young people rarely get the chance to experience the fascinating world of
sound recording. As such, this service is designed to stimulate interest in
being creative, practical and inventive.
Potential topics covered:
- About Sound: and how our knowledge of sound
relates to recording studio design and the way we function.
-Hands On: get involved with some of our equipment
and get a feel for it. Try some recording and experience the practical side
of the job.
- The Recording Process: split into a number
of sub-sections covering microphones, mixing desks, speakers, and how we channel
a signal between all of these.
- The Use of Software: explaining the capabilities
of software packages, their role in a modern studio, and future advances in
software development.
- Sound Recording as a Career: what skills
and qualifications you need to work in the industry, what working in a studio
is like, and how to succeed in the industry.

We can cover a wide range of topics with
great depth, be it theory, practical, or simply giving an idea of what working
in a recording studio is like, or what skills and qualifications you might
need to forge a career in this aspect of the industry. We feel that all this
information is of vital performance for young people who may be considering
sound recording as a career.
None
of these topics are targeted towards a particular age range or intellectual
standard. They can be tailored to be suitable for all persons; from the very
basics of 'what sound is' to high levels of technology and understanding. Most
importantly this is meant to be a fun, interesting experience that gets those
involved enthusiastic about sound, music and learning more about these things.
