At Chapel Studios you will have access to two SSL XLogic pre-amp units, giving you eight of the legendary XL 9000 K Series Microphone Pre Amplifiers in 2U's of rack space.
An ultra wide and flat frequency response, extremely low distortion and an almost unmeasurable noise floor make these pre-amps among the best in the business: perfect for capturing your sound with pristine clarity.
The XLogic uses unique DC-coupled SuperAnalogue technology, combined with stepless changes to pre-amp gain through motorized potentiometers, as well as a selection of 20dB pad, +48V phantom power and Hi/Low Impedence selection, for both microphone and line level inputs.
The API 3124 is a high quality, four input, four output pre amp. It has 4 pristine mic pre amps giving the classic API sound to any microphone recording.
In addition, 4 instrument ins on the front connect directly from pre-amp to the op-amp meaning that low level signals such as guitar and bass can be easily amplified without the need for a DI box.
The high impedance inputs can take high input levels making them ideal for keyboards. In all, this classic pre amp provides us with superb quality audio for any music producer or voice over artist at our London recording studio.
The 3124 pre-amps have the best transient response available making them an ideal choice for drums. Their up-front, mid-forward sound also makes them incredible on distorted guitars.
These pre-amps sounds fantastic when used carefully and deliver a very clear sound but the real magic lies in their analogue distortion capabilities. Pushing them hard gives that natural analogue compression that so many strive for which brings out the impact of drums and thickens up guitar and bass signals.
This set of pre-amps shows The Chapel Studios dedication to versatility.

Hand-built to its original 1970's specifications, the Neve 33609JD Stereo Compressor offers comprehensive limiting and compression facilities for music recording, mastering, post production and broadcast applications. The combination of hand-wired transformers and gain reduction circuitry produces a sound quality which is often duplicated, yet seldom achieved by any other compressor / limiter. Coupled with the unit's unparalleled ease of use, this inimitable sound quality has made the 33609 a worldwide studio standard for three decades.
The Chapel Studios gives you the SSL G-Series compressor, the latest version of the compressor used in the legendary SL 4000 console, which uses the same classic twin VCA design as its console counterpart.
The XLogic G-Series Compressor is a 1U rack mounting stereo buss compressor. Combined with improved input and output circuitry, this unit provides improved audio performance, while retaining the dynamics characteristics that have provided numerous hit mixes for the world's best sound engineers.
Fantastic on tracking drums and piano, this unit is stereo or mono, not dual mono. This is one of the attributes that leads to its tight stereo imaging control.
We use the G-Series for its classic mix finalising capabilities. A key element in the sound of many classic recordings is the punch and drive of the mixes created by the G-Series compressor.
The API 2500 is a stereo bus compressor used to bring out more punch and tone in your mix. It gives you a selection of older or newer sounding compression ranging from the type found in the old API 525, 1176, and the fairchild.

The original Universal Audio 1176LN designed by Bill Putnam was a major breakthrough in limiter technology – the first true peak limiter with all transistor circuitry offering superior performance and a signature sound.
Today, the 1176LN is new again. While it certainly would have been possible – and much simpler – to modernize and "improve" the 1176LN, every effort was made to remain faithful to Putnam's design and intentions. Carefully trained staff hand-wire and test each unit until it meets Universal Audio's uncompromising standards. This classic version of the 1176LN captures all the nuance of the original through obsessive attention to detail and delivers that trademark sound.

The Empirical Labs EL8XS Distressor Stereo/Dual Mono is a digitally controlled audio device which gives that warmth so craved by actually incorporating several products into one by utilizing digital controls to switch totally different circuits in and out.
This distressor gives your tracks that real warm sound. This is an important issue to us as the super clear sound of modern digital recordings can sometimes sound a little "harsh". At Chapel Recording Studios London we ensure your tracks come out with that recognised vintage warmth.
This excellent piece of hardware offers several modes that color the signal, even without compression (or gain control). These extended modes emulate vintage gain control units (compressors & limiters) and deliver a classic "knee" sound all of it's own.
